Wall Street Journal also supports the view that the days of fat pay packages in the financial sector are over.

The sector as a whole will surely take time to bounce back but I think the role of raising and managing capital is too important to be 'any-less important'. May be it is my heart and not my brain speaking this time but it has happened in the recessions of the last few decades and though this promises to be larger one and a more painful one, I think it will happen again this time...

Why. so. serious. son ?
ReplyDeleteIf you are 'The one and only Saira', then, I think you should be more serious than I am ;-)
ReplyDeleteIf you are any other Saira, then, let me tell you that things are gonna go from bad to worse... And I have managed to impeccably time my entry into the field of finance... So, I better get serious b4 it is too late...
Note: The whole multiple Saira polysemy has occurred because you have hidden your profile... Next time do disclose your identity so that I will be able to get acquainted with my audience a bit better :-)
Pray, who is this "the one and only Saira"?
ReplyDeleteAnd if I am her, I should be serious because people want to behave like the financial crisis is a permanent phenomenon like 4th stage cancer? Things will get fine soon enough. Ride the waves and thoda chill le lijiye.
Note: polysemy, I like the word. The profile has always been private, sorry.
Even Himesh Reshamiya knows that the crisis will get over... The only thing remains to be seen is the time required by the global economy to recuperate... And looking at the magnitude and nature of the things around, I get a feeling that it will be quite a while before we see sensex back in 21000s (Or improvement in real economy for that matter)...
ReplyDeleteSo far as riding waves and chilling is concerned, I have not yet resorted to listening to Altaf Raja songs ;-).
So I am not at all serious and very much chillaxing...
As a finance professional, I would have loved to join the industry during the expansion phase which is not very likely looking at the current scenario... And it feels bad...
Altaf and Himesh. Placement work is getting to you, mate - seriously.
ReplyDeleteHow long will the recuperation take? 3 years? 4? 5? But then, its going to be fine, right. Everything will be fine in due course. Quit fretting and adding to mass hysteria by reading articles that are meant to create and cash in on mass hysteria like the NDTV idiot who came to class to ask us how "threatened" and "vulnerable" and "confused" we feel about having chosen the finance sector.
I'm assuming you're passionate about finance, and that's why you chose capital markets. And if you are passionate about finance, you stick by it and love it even when its going thru shit.
It should be like your wife! Now stop whining and complaining and please, before you start listening to atrocious music, go to the Himalayas for a bit.
